Shared Topic: Home Sweet Home

Hello!

In lieu of the usual...topics... wait a moment, I'm not sure I have any usual topics!

Part of my blogging is reading other blogs.  Trying to find interesting topics.  And of course posting them in a timely manner (which I admit I need to work on).

I came across this shared to over on Blog Azeroth forums...
What do i consider home?... In world of warcraft.

I don't normally consider a particular place home while I play WoW.  I do however choose to hang out in the larger cities, and pretty much where everyone else is hanging out.  As long as the lag is bearable.  With cataclysm coming and Dalaran no longer having the portals(It appears), I will probably find myself hanging out in Orgrimmar often.

I suppose to me finding a place to call home is more like something you'd find in Role Playing.  I don't Role Play at all in WoW, although I have considered it.  I think part of RP'ing is establishing a history, home, family,  even your own Country type of place.  All of that adds flavor to your character and really provides more depth to your story.

I guess in the end home is where ever i find myself on that particular day.

Thanks for reading.

DK Tank 4.01 Initial Thoughts

Hello everyone!

So after a few attempts to complete the download of 4.01(8GB free space isn't enough fyi)I was able to respec, and get in a few heroics.

Initial thoughts are; Whoa, this feels clunky, weird!, oh that was cool, I need to spend some time learning how to do this all over, why do I feel so squishy, threat doesn't seem to be a problem, picking up adds (like in the gauntlet, in UP) is challenging.

Keep in mind this is WOTLK 4.01 patch, not Cataclysm. Also I think some of this will just smooth out with more familiarity in the new play style.

Admittedly the "clunky" feel, and challenging add pick ups, are most likely side effects of just getting familiar with all the new talents, abilities, procs etc... Given some more play time these should smooth out nicely.

Several heroics later...

Loving the new Blood Boil animation.

Threat seems really good. The only issues I ran into was DPS'ers attacking the wrong targets, and/or attacking the adds before I could get some threat on them. Since those problems are typical of DPS players. I will not worry too much about that for now.

One really good thing I noticed is that my DPS went up considerably. I'm sorry I can't give you any numbers, but first look it appears it's gone up 400-600 points, in these 5-man heroics.

One major thing is that even though my health went up by about 6000k, after spec'ing, and training and getting into tank gear, and turning on blood presence. I feel very squishy. Several times I was asking the healer about that but the replies were all healing is a breeze. So maybe this is just an illusion. I'll see how it looks after a bunch more instances.

Overall I'd say this looks good and should be pretty fun leading up to Cataclysm.

Hint: I heard that DK frost PVP is "pwning" right now so maybe for fun I'll go check that out. This is just what i heard so take that with a grain of salt...

Hear ye! Hear ye! Nex is posting again...

Hello everyone.

First let me say apologies, for the hiatus that just occurred. It was not planned. Though I did have a few days vacation in there somewhere. Hopefully I will be more "regular" hehe(you said more regular) with posts now that some things in RL have been worked out and settled.

Like the rest of you I am extremely excited about all of the news coming out of the cataclysm expansion. Frankly I'm about to burst :P. Daily I am searching for news, and bits of information on the "interwebz" and I'm sitting on the edge of my seat anxiously awaiting the arrival of the highly anticipated release of Cataclysm.

I myself unfortunately have no information to report as of yet. Although since the test realms now have some changes incoming. I'll be spending much more time there diligently going over the Death Knights Specifically the Tank stuff. I'll be posting again soon. As a bonus (or maybe not so) I've posted the first "unedited" chapter of a short story I'm currently working on feel free to leave a comment/rip/rant or whatever else you like.

Thanks for reading.

Remember this is unedited and contains possible grammar, and sentence structure errors :P

Chapter 1
Everything was still absolutely still. He laid there, eyes closed. The air was hot and dry. A fly buzzed around his head. The sound of boots crunching on gravel woke him and he sat up eyes blinking, squinting against the sun, which was high in the sky. After a moment to gather his senses he realized he was staring down the barrel of a sawed off shotgun.

He looked up at this intruder. The man’s face was wrinkled, and leathery from years in the sun. He was missing several teeth, and had a queer smile across his grisly visage. Another boot scraping the earth behind him, told Jack there was at least two of them. Making no sudden moves, he slowly began to stand up “easy now.” said the man with the boot blaster. “We’ve been looking for you.” said the voice behind him with a distinctly English accent. “You’ve given us quite a chase, jack.” He said. Jack turned around and got his first look at the second man. This man looked nothing like the first. He had pale skin. It was smooth, and with no signs of sun damage, which was so common now. He was most certainly the leader. “You see,” the man continued, “After you won the contest, and then embarrassed the boys back in Mudflats… well we couldn’t have the locals thinking less of us now could we? “ “We just had to come find you, haul you back, and make an example out of you.” The pale man said with wicked glint in his eye.

Jack gazed around taking in his surroundings and noticed several other men of various dispositions and rag tag garb. There were five of them, four near him, and one sitting on some 4 wheeled riding machine, several yards away. People used to call them utility vehicles. He was drinking some clear liquid out of a jar. Realizing his situation he had to think fast. Jack learned many things over the years since the big bang, as some were want to call it now-a-days, and he’d escaped many situations using his wits.

“You guys ever seen my girlfriend?" said Jack. "She's so skinny, she can hide behind a fencepost." The men around him began to chuckle, and laugh, and he seized the opportunity. He quickly lunged, side stepping, and reached for the shotgun. Grabbing the trigger with his second hand and squeezing, dropping the pale man with a near point blank full spread. Jerking the shotgun away, he dropped it. Stepping behind the grisly man pulling his own pistol, two quick shots and he dropped a second. In a flash he grabbed the grisly man around the neck and spun using him for cover. Bang! Bang! He downed a third.

The man on the vehicle seeing see his buddies fall so quickly, had only one thought in his thick head… run! He dropped the jar he was drinking from and frantically began to try and start the motor. Seeing this, Jack clubbed the grisly man over the head, and he crumpled into a heap on the ground, unconscious. Ending the struggle, and taking a breath, Jack slowly looked up and over at the man desperately trying to start the machine. Suddenly realizing the silence, the last standing of the would-be assailant’s stopped his attempts to start the vehicle. He slowly looked over to where Jack was standing, swallowing hard, he stepped off the machine. He gave a nervous, kind of snort type of laugh. He made a fumbling reach for his weapon, but Jack ended any notion of that, rather pointedly.

Dusting himself off Jack surveyed the area. Barren land as far as the eye could see. Nothing but scrub brush and rocks. He noticed his attackers were kind enough to pack some supplies when they came to find him. He smiled to himself as he gathered up what he could. He dragged the still unconscious grisly man over to the vehicle, and left him propped up against it. Shouldering his pack with one last glance around Jack continued on, northeast.
Then a thought occurred to him. He loosened a canteen from around his neck and tossed it at the feet of the grisly man. After all, Jack wasn’t a total monster. He used to be a man. A normal, average man, just like all the rest of ‘em.
